”Visu24's strengths are flexibility, speed and modeling of the built environment”
Energiquelle Oy, which has been developing and managing renewable energy projects since 1997, relied on Visu24's know-how for the wind power project before and after - in the pictures. Visu24 handled drone filming, animation and video editing for the company.
- Typically, observational images are made of wind power projects for the environmental impact assessment procedure (EIA). The purpose of the EIA procedure is to ensure that environmental impacts are determined with sufficient accuracy when the project causes environmental impacts, Energiequellen Antto Kulla explain.
As the project area is open in terms of visibility, extending for example over the back of the lake or a wide open field, the photo helps the local residents to visualize future changes. In this case, an observational video was also made, which concretely illustrated the change in the landscape and the rotating movement of the wind turbine blades.
- In its simplicity, it is a photograph (or aerial view) of the current situation and an animated picture or video of the situation after the project, Kulla says and explains that Energiequelle is a German-based family business that employs more than 600 people in Europe. In addition to Finland, the company operates in Germany and France.
Project development companies like Energiequelle are still relatively new in Finland.
- Project development companies work in such a way that they look for areas suitable for projects, and then carry out comprehensive background investigations. Everything starts with agreeing the land lease with the landowners and after that the cooperation with the municipality. The background studies map out whether there are, for example, protected areas in the area that would be obstacles to the realization of the projects.
Once the prerequisites have been clarified, it is time to agree on zoning or other types of land use planning with the municipality.
A high-quality video offers the viewer more
Through observation videos made by Visu, Energiequelle got a moving picture of its process.
- With the help of a moving image, people are better able to understand how the landscape will change in the project, Kulla says.
The videos show the different image heights and the structures of the power plants better than still images.
Visu24 was selected as the photo editor after a light bidding process. According to Kulla, Visu stood out especially in modeling the built environment.
- Of course, the fact that Visu is a Central Finnish operator also had its own meaning, and we wanted to support it. Locality is important in projects.
Kulla and Energique were satisfied with the final result.
- After a few rounds of commenting, we came to a good conclusion, and it was a pleasure to see that the videos were watched with great concentration at the public events. They can still be viewed on the website of the environmental administration.
Kulla also counts flexibility and speed as Visu's trump cards. Visu knew what was being done, and found the skills to do it.
In the future, Energiequelle will continue projects in different areas. In terms of wind power, mainly in western and central Finland and further south in Lapland. When it comes to solar power, the geography is freer, because in the area of eastern Finland, the construction of wind turbines is held back by the defense forces' radars.

Are you implementing a wind power project for which you needed high-quality materials to assess the landscape effects?
Our company Visu24 is one of Finland's leading real estate 3D modeling agencies. Now we also implement EIA materials for wind power projects, such as 3D modeling embedded in a drone image in a cost-effective manner.
Drone image video with 3D model: This visual display gives a realistic picture of the landscape effects. By combining elevation models and accurate power plant models, our landscape modeling shows how power plants look from different distances, from different vantage points - even in the dark!
3D model of the wind turbine / video image embedding / video image fitting
Price from €3500 / piece + VAT (includes drone footage from five observation points, embedding the 3d model into the video image, integrating the elevation model into the model, presenting the necessary maps on the video, adding subtitles to the video, etc.)
By combining elevation models and accurate power plant models, our landscape modeling shows how power plants look from different distances, from different vantage points - even in the dark! 😇
