Kai Rajakaltio understand the meaning of 3D visualization images more than well. The Helsinki architect praises that the pictures are a big help, which are needed e.g. for building permits and especially in projects where the end result must be clearly presented.
- In architectural competitions, sub-evaluators may be people who are not construction professionals. In this case, visualization images naturally play a significant role, Rajakaltio knows.
Represented by Rajakalti Jaakkola Architects has been extremely successful in architectural competitions: more than 40 prize places have been achieved, of which the company has no less than 34 first prizes.
Visu24 delivered 3D visualization images to Jaakkola Architects Kiviruukki in the city of Espoo for the parking building.
- Presentation photos were needed for the city committee's consideration, Rajakaltio says and notes that the photo delivery went "very conveniently" with Visu. The pictures came quickly and the necessary repairs were also done on time.
According to Rajakaltio, it is typical that corrections and changes come through the draft phase. The design is alive, and the pictures help to visualize the development needs.
High-quality images and their editing take time
Rajakaltio and Jaakkola Arkkitehdit have produced images both themselves, as a purchase service and as hourly work from freelancers. The working time spent on images depends entirely on the work in progress.
Outsourcing to a company like Visu, which specializes in visualization, is a valid option. Few medium-sized architectural offices have enough image needs that hiring a full-time employee would be meaningful.
- We do have experts in image production in our own staff, but they already have their hands full. It is typical that there are usually a lot of changes in a period of a couple of weeks. This takes time, but it does not require a full-time worker, Rajakaltio calculates and then points out that freelancers also spend a lot of time on work, and freelancers may not have it available either.
However, the quality of the images should not be compromised. Modeling, material settings, lights and shadows are important. Rajakaltio points out that it is also good to have faces in the pictures, so that the picture conveys the desired good feeling.
Cost-effective outsourcing
At Jaakkola Arkkitehti, the images are often part of the service, but occasionally, according to the agreement, they can also be shown for payment by the customer. According to Rajakalti, in general, if more images are needed, the costs are discussed separately. The cost is also significant for the customer. Outsourcing is also cost-effective, and Rajakaltio recommends outsourcing visualization images as needed. Cooperation with Visu went smoothly.
- I can absolutely recommend Visu. The pictures were really good and they came on time. The communication and communication throughout the process went well and we easily reached the desired result, praises the architect.
Visu24 was found thanks to email marketing, and since Rajakalti's colleague had heard of the service provider's company before, there was no need to buy a pig in a sack.
Jaakkola Arkkitehdit works with leading construction companies and employs more than twenty architects and designers. The company has done a lot of public real estate around Finland. The aim of planning activities is to implement architecturally high-level and functional solutions that, alongside sustainable development and positive environmental effects, create an interesting urban space and are also sensible in terms of land use.
